Scholarships

Each year the Guild, in conjunction with Opus Framing & Art Supplies, provides scholarships for as many as three Vancouver secondary school graduates, chosen for their artistic excellence and acceptance into post secondary Fine Art Studies. One of these Scholarships is awarded in memory of Michael Saya-Moore, long time Guild member, and made possible through a fund established with the Guild by Michael's family and friends in 2007

Recipients this year are Cheryl Loh of Windermere Secondary, Claire Hsu and Warren Cheng, both of Lord Byng Secondary. Each of these students was accepted into a post secondary Fine Art program.

Lucy Chen of Lord Byng Secondary and Tina Le of Windermere Secondary were the 2008 recipients. Susan Lim and Christine Shi, 2007 graduates of Lord Byng Secondary, were awarded in 2007; Francesca Chandra from Lord Byng and Jonathon Tiong, from Van Tech, in 2006; and Phillip Materna, Lord Byng, in 2005.

The Vancouver Art Guild is grateful to Opus Framing and Art Supplies, who match the contribution of the Guild in each of these $500 Awards. The scholarships are one of the ways in which the Guild serves its goal to provide support for emerging artists.
