Barbara Nield

Barbara Nield discovered painting by accident while on a summer holiday in the Lot District of France. On return, she signed up for a long-term series of painting classes, initially and most importantly with Fran Alley, and then later, with the Federation of Canadian Artists, the Vancouver Academy of Art, Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design, and finally with the University of B.C. where she completed a degree in Fine Arts in 2007.

The Vancouver Art Guild has provided an important venue in which to make valuable contacts and friendships, to participate in on-going classes, to take part in some of the Guild painting excursions to B.C., Mexico and Europe, and to show her work at the Guild's annual Winter Salon
